If the Pittsburgh Steelers ever needed a win, it would be this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. For the past seven seasons, the Steelers have had a losing streak of three games or more every single year. Should they drop another this week, that will mark eight straight years.

That’s as concerning a trend as you can have. It just so happens that the last time the Steelers won a playoff game was in 2016, before the trend ever started. It speaks to the issues prevalent within the franchise as of late.

So can the Steelers reverse course and get back on track this season? Or will history repeat itself? Destin Adams of A to Z Sports Indianapolis, and Rob Gregson of A to Z Sports Pittsburgh made their predictions.

Colts 34, Steelers 24

“The Colts and Steelers always find a way to put on a show when they go head-to-head. I honestly wish this were a primetime game instead of the standard early slate. Two teams that made significant changes at QB this offseason have seen improvements from recent years as a result. I expect Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers to have big games with both secondaries struggling.”

“I’ll even go as far as to say both QBs throw for over 300 yards in this matchup. Ultimately, I think the Colts have the far and away better offense and will make fewer mistakes than the Steelers, which will help them pick up the road win to improve to their league-best 8-1 record.” – Adams

Colts 30, Steelers 23

It’s hard in good conscience to see what the Steelers defense has looked like the last two weeks and think that all because of a trade and another home game, that things will turn around. The fact that the league’s best offense is coming to town is even more concerning.

There are two things the Colts offense does exceptionally well: It runs the football, and it targets TE Tyler Warren. Guess the two places where Pittsburgh struggles? Defending the run and covering tight ends.

Two weeks ago, the Steelers allowed Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown to rush for over 100 yards, despite his previous performances not exceeding 50 yards. Last week against the Green Bay Packers, Tucker Kraft looked like Rob Gronkowski meets Tony Gonzalez.

So maybe Pittsburgh finds some magic and finally gets things back on track, but I can’t give the Steelers the benefit of the doubt based on the past few performances.
