Final score prediction for Notre Dame vs. Boston College: Can the Irish avoid a sluggish performance against the Eagles coming off a bye?
Final score prediction between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Boston College Eagles.
After five straight victories following a 0-2 start to begin the 2025 college football season, head coach Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame football are set for a final five-game stretch coming off their final bye week. The objective is simple for Freeman and the Irish: Win out, and you are most likely in the College Football Playoffs. If you slip up just once, there is zero chance that you qualify for the field.
Their winning streak should continue this weekend when they travel to take on the Boston College Eagles, a team that is struggling mightily over the last several weeks. With how the Irish seem to be rounding into form, this should be a relatively easy matchup, at least in theory. Coming off a bye week, there also shouldn’t be any threat of a trap or letdown game.
Notre Dame-Boston College series history
- Notre Dame and Boston College have played 26 times in their series history
- Fighting Irish currently hold a 17-9 series lead, including five straight victories
- Boston College has lost seven straight games, allowing 37.8 points per game during that stretch
- Notre Dame has won five straight games, outscoring their opponents with a 210 to 81 points
The Notre Dame offense has a clear mismatch in this contest. This feels like the perfect opportunity for quarterback CJ Carr to get back on track after a shaky outing against the USC Trojans two weekends ago. The redshirt freshman signal caller has mostly played tremendously football, and it would be nice if he can show that one performance was nothing more than a blip on the radar. It wouldn’t be shocking if offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock focused on getting Carr in rhythm early in the game.
Even if Carr isn’t great, the Boston College run defense has an extremely tough task against Fighting Irish superstar Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price. You have to feel good about Love continuing his case for the Heisman Trophy in this contest. No. 4 should be featured early and often.
On the defensive side of the football, Chris Ash’s unit has been worlds better over the last several weeks. This game is about continuing that momentum and defeating a struggling Eagles offensive attack. There is no reason that the defense won’t be able to keep its confidence. Expect star pass rusher Boubacar Traore to have a huge game on Saturday and continue his ascension as one of the top pass rushers in college football.
As long as Freeman has his team ready to play, this should be a very lopsided affair.
