Contrary to popular belief, the Colts’ poor showing in Week 9 should motivate them to make a big move at the trade deadline
Colts loss to the Steelers should have the opposite effect many are predicting.
The Indianapolis Colts had their first true letdown performance of the year in Week 9, a 27-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The team now sits at 7-2, and their four-game win streak ended. A common response to this loss has been that it will prompt the team to reconsider making a move ahead of the trade deadline. However, it may do the opposite.
The Colts’ loss in Week 9 to the Steelers should increase the chances of a move ahead of the NFL trade deadline
The Colts only had four turnovers entering Week 9’s matchup with the Steelers. They more than doubled that total in this game alone, and they ended the game with six total. It should come as no surprise that they lost this one.
Outside of their first offensive possession, it was pretty clear it wasn’t the Colts’ day. It was the worst game of the year for QB Daniel Jones, and it was by far the worst game of the year for their offensive line. This loss showed that their offense isn’t perfect and won’t always put up 30 points.
So even more than before, the Colts must operate as buyers ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline. The defense is in no way the reason the Colts lost this game, but it’s the unit with the biggest holes. The team needs to get Laiatu Latu a better running mate off the edge or a better option to start at CB.
That needs to be the way they react to this loss. I’d swing big and aggressively push to land star pass rusher Trey Hendrickson from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Riq Woolen could be the perfect move that the Colts could make to try and fix their CB issues at the trade deadline
A CB who has slipped down an NFC’s teams depth chart could be the perfect addition for the Colts ahead of the trade deadline.
