Former Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello was back on Rocky Top this past weekend for UT’s “Dark Mode” game against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Vitello, who was introduced as the new manager of the San Francisco Giants last Thursday, said shortly after resigning as Tennessee’s baseball coach that he wasn’t going anywhere.

“I’m not going anywhere,” said Vitello to a group of local reporters after he stepped down as Tennessee’s head coach. “So real estate people quit texting me. I’ll figure out what I want to do. But whether it’s football games, basketball games, supporting these guys in some form or fashion, I’m not going anywhere.”

Tony Vitello details how often he’ll return to the state of Tennessee

Vitello appeared on Bussin with the Boys this week, and he detailed his plans for visiting the state of Tennessee as he transitions to life on the West Coast.

“Definitely in Nashville, for sure,” said Vitello when asked if he plans to keep a residence in Nashville. “This place is phenomenal. Whether it’s just running into you guys (Taylor Lewan and Will Compton) at a restaurant or the grocery store… the connection to country music and some friendships I’ve formed. You’re in the middle of the country, so both coasts are kind of accessible. This is just a phenomenal place.

“So, definitely looking forward to sticking to a place here (in Nashville). And probably even — the fans were awesome to me at the football game on Saturday, so as long as that continues, I’d like to still be in Knoxville a little bit. I mean, the other coaches had a lot to do with it, but for the next three or four years, I’m going to be closely tied to a lot of those players.”

Vitello will be busy with MLB duties from February to (potentially) late October. But I’m sure we’ll see him back in Neyland Stadium next November.
