The Las Vegas Raiders traded former wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a few draft picks. Now Meyers can play for a team that has intentions of making the postseason in the AFC South, and the Raiders can get some draft compensation before losing him for nothing this offseason.

Before his first game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, with the Raiders on bye, he shouted out his former teammates and fan base.

“Appreciate that,” Meyers said when being told happy birthday. “And hey, shoutout to all my boys in Vegas, man. It’s going to turn around. Y’all boys, keep playing hard. I love y’all all boys miss y’all boys, but we’re about to enjoy this game today.”

The Raiders and everyone involved with them have to love hearing that on their week off. Meyers is a true stand-up guy.

Meyers’ start to Jags’ career didn’t start the way he may have wanted

Meyers was the best receiver on the Raiders, but it was clear he just didn’t have that connection with Geno Smith, and the Raiders drafted his replacement in Jack Bech. He will be one of the focal points of their offense moving forward, and may even re-sign with them.

Meyers had a short week with the Jags, and their offense is completely different than the Raiders’ offensive scheme.

“I’m not all the way there,” Meyers said pre-game in regards to how much of the Jaguars’ offense he knows. “I get an opportunity to go out there and run fast and hit somebody. Just call it whatever; if I figure it out, I figure it out. If I don’t, I’ll play fast and handle my business.”

Meyers led the team in receiving yards with 41, where he had three catches on three targets. However, at one point, the Jags had a 29-10 lead over the Texans, and somehow they lost the game on a pick-six that was at the buzzer.

Meyers is still, somehow, losing games that the Raiders would figure out ways to lose.
