The Alabama Crimson Tide is proving that the biggest game of the year is the next one. The Oklahoma Sooners are heading to Tuscaloosa this week to take on the Tide in what is the best matchup of the week.

No. 4-ranked Alabama will take on the No.11-ranked Sooners in what is essentially a de facto College Football Playoff elimination game. For Alabama, it will be the hardest test that Kalen DeBoer, Ryan Grubb, and the run game face all year.

But not only because of Oklahoma’s vaunted rush defense. The Sooners have devised a way to get an edge on their opponents, and Kalen DeBoer has now addressed it multiple times, along with a stern message from Ryan Grubb.

Kalen DeBoer addresses sign-stealing allegations from Oklahoma

“I mean, from our standpoint, and that’s really all I can refer to. . .We just assume every game that there’s some element of it, and so we continue to adjust what we do,” said DeBoer during Wednesday’s SEC media call. “And that’s, you know, just again, that’s an assumption we make. And so we act accordingly.”

The sign-stealing allegations first made waves when Ole Miss Rebels HC and former Alabama OC Lane Kiffin called out Oklahoma for its role in stealing said signals. Obviously, teams won’t take that lightly, especially in light of the whole scandal involving the Michigan Wolverines and Connor Stalions.

“You got to adjust. I mean, I think across the board, across the country, there’s some element of every team doing something,” said DeBoer on Monday via Bama Central on YouTube. “And so, for us, I think our staff does a pretty good job, but you certainly gotta make sure you’re always doing your best to change things up. And we got huddle, no huddle, and there’s a lot of different things we do, too. We just gotta continue to do what we’ve done, not just this year, but the year past, as well.”

Alabama OC Ryan Grubb had a little bit of a different stance earlier in the week, vowing that if Oklahoma was watching the offensive signals of the Alabama Crimson Tide, it wouldn’t matter because Alabama is changing everything up.

“They’re good at that, No. 1. And No. 2, we’re changing everything,” Grubb said Monday. “So if coach Venables is listening, just know they’re all changing. They do everything within the parameters of the game, though. There’s nothing illegal about what they do. They’re good at what they do, so you certainly have to take that into consideration.”

We’ll see what it all looks like on Saturday afternoon.
