The Dolphins’ overtime win over the Commanders came with a hidden cost that will leave some fans miserable over the bye until Miami takes the field again

It was a good day at the office for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, with the team battling out a hard-fought win over the Washington Commanders in overtime. No one will confuse the game for the game of the year, but it marks a hard-fought win late and consecutive wins for the first time in 2025. […]

It was a good day at the office for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, with the team battling out a hard-fought win over the Washington Commanders in overtime. No one will confuse the game for the game of the year, but it marks a hard-fought win late and consecutive wins for the first time in 2025.

It was not, however, a good day at the office in one very specific way. Fans of the team who have been counting down to draft talk, offseason changes, and mock drafts, look away!

Dolphins scheduled draft capital takes a major shift as Miami (and others) keep winning

The Dolphins doubling their season win total in eight days is, naturally, going to shift their ranking in the standings. If the NFL Draft were today, Miami would own the 11th overall choice in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft and the 43rd overall pick in the second round. Sorry, mock drafters.

But here’s the thing — Miami isn’t just on draft watch for their own selections. It has top-100 picks that belong to Houston and Philadelphia in the third round, too. And that’s where Week 11 really gives the Dolphins their bittersweet aftertaste.

Houston beat out a horrible Tennessee Titans team in overtime to move back to .500. Miami’s pick in the third round via Houston is now scheduled to be 78th overall. The Texans, like the Dolphins, have won three of their last four. And then, of course, there’s Philadelphia.

The Eagles knocked off the Lions on Sunday night to push back into the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Their pick to Miami currently ranks 95th overall — but when you’re in postseason play, the order of those picks can change in a hurry. It would behoove the Dolphins to see Philadelphia have to play in the Wild Card round; a loss there could jolt that pick by close to 10 spots in the order.

The Dolphins should undeniably take the win. But for the eternal hopefuls or ever-pessimistic fans looking for something to enjoy with a 4-7 record, the next two weeks of mock drafts just won’t hit like they had been.
