The Detroit Lions have a huge game on Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys. How huge? We’re talking about a potentially season-changing game here. If the Lions win, they have a 44% chance of making the playoffs. If they lose, they go down to 12%. They have to win this game.

We’ve already talked extensively about what the Lions’ defense can do to get things done, but what about the offense? The Cowboys are currently the 31st-ranked defense by DVOA right now, and if they’re able to have all hands on deck in this game, it’s going to help. All hands on deck might mean that Amon-Ra St. Brown could be playing in this game — he suffered an ankle injury against the Green Bay Packers.

Dan Campbell gives a positive update on Amon-Ra St. Brown

“He’s better. That’s the best way to say it. But I don’t see him practicing today, you know. But he is better.” Campbell said. “So I know this about him: if he can play, he’ll play. You know, that’s the best way to say it.”

Look, maybe I’m reading too much into things. I’ve been rightly accused of doing that before, but Campbell doesn’t rule St. Brown out of this game, and he does say that he’s getting better. The big part is the “I know his about him: if he can play, he’ll play” part that really makes you think, right? The Lions have played players who didn’t practice ahead of a game before, and they’ve done it this season, too. If St. Brown feels he can go, it’s safe to believe that the Lions are going to let him go.

We’ll see for sure what the deal is when the Lions put out game designations on Wednesday. If St. Brown is questionable, things could happen.
