Commanders Wednesday Injury Report: Major questions remain for Jayden Daniels and key defenders miss practice
Jayden Daniels still waits to be cleared for contact, while Javon Kinlaw and Bobby Wagner miss practice.
The Washington Commanders are looking to rebound from a heartbreaking loss to the Denver Broncos, and they’re back on the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings in the last non-division game of the season.
We finally saw a team playing with purpose and energy, and now they get the chance to build off of it with playoff hopes hanging on by one last thread. Terry McLaurin’s return was as impactful as we hoped, and now questions remain on when quarterback Jayden Daniels will return.
The biggest question this week will be if Daniels plays or not, and head coach Dan Quinn said they will take every day possible to get him cleared for contact. In addition to Daniels’ practice status, the Commanders had a handful of defenders pop up with injuries to monitor.

Observations
- Daniels has been limited in practice and actively throwing the ball around. The only thing they’re waiting on, however, is that he isn’t cleared for contact yet, so that’s the biggest roadblock remaining in his return. Getting Daniels back in the last few weeks, with McLaurin back to playing at a high level, can give the Commanders a major boost, but also show them what the team really looks like at full force while they try to win some games.
- Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw missed practice with a back injury, and that would be a big loss for the defense if he misses the game Sunday. Linebacker Bobby Wagner also missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury, while Frankie Luvu was a limited participant. Luckily, Jordan Magee had his best game against the Broncos, and could fill in if either of them doesn’t travel with the team.
- Wide receiver Noah Brown looks like he could be a go on Sunday, which would give the offense another weapon. Brown has had a ton of injuries ever since the offseason, and he hasn’t played since Week 2. It’ll be interesting to see how Quinn handles his snap counts with Treylon Burks looking for more of a role after his one-handed catch.
