One of the wilder National Signing Day situations unfolded on Wednesday when the Ohio State Buckeyes lost their commitment from 2026 ATH Legend Bey, who flipped back to the Tennessee Volunteers.

Bey originally flipped from Tennessee to Ohio State on Nov. 10, then flipped to Tennessee again on Wednesday. According to multiple reports, Bey returned to Tennessee on signing day because his mother wouldn’t sign his National Letter of Intent to attend Ohio State. On Thursday, Bey posted — and quickly deleted — an interesting couple of sentences on X.

Legend Bey says he’s likely to end up with Ohio State

Thursday night, a comment from Bey surfaced on TikTok that caught plenty of attention. The Texas product all but confirmed that he plans to sign with Ohio State in less than three weeks, when he turns 18. Of course, this would require Tennessee to release him from his NLI, which isn’t expected to be an issue given how everything has unfolded.

“Unfortunately, it’s true, but I would like for everyone to give my mom the utmost respect,” Bey commented on TikTok. “I turn 18 in 20 days, so it most likely will be Go Bucks.”

Bey is the No. 9 athlete and No. 175 overall player in the class of 2026, according to the 247Sports Composite. The Buckeyes view Bey as a Curtis Samuel–type weapon who can catch passes and take touches out of the backfield. He recorded 1,341 passing yards, 1,626 rushing yards, and 23 rushing touchdowns in his senior season at North Forney (TX).

Ohio State lost offensive coordinator Brian Hartline to his first head coaching gig at USF earlier in the week, a move that shook up the Buckeyes’ wide receiver commitments. Four-star wideout Kayden Dixon-Wyatt flipped to USC, and top commit Chris Henry Jr. could be trending toward Oregon as well. If the Buckeyes can bring Bey back into this class, it would help alleviate some of the recent losses.
