Welp, the injury problems continue for the Detroit Lions. Late in their 44-30 win over the Dallas Cowboys, Pro Bowl safety Brian Branch went down on a near interception in the end zone and had to be carted off the field.

After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell was asked if there were some concerns that the injury could be a long-term thing for Branch, and Campbell said, “Well, yeah.” It turns out that concern was legitimate. Branch has suffered a season-ending torn Achilles injury.

This is a massive blow to the Lions’ secondary that’s already been dealing with injuries to Kerby Joseph, Terrion Arnold, and D.J. Reed all season. Now, they lose one of their best players for not only the rest of this season, but possibly a good chunk of next season as well. Safety just became an offseason need for the Lions.
