The Detroit Lions made another move in the defensive backfield. After adding safety Domantae Kazee earlier in the week, the Lions have claimed another veteran safety after the Texans released him.

Lions claim safety Jalen Mills off the waiver wire per the league’s transaction wire

Like Kazee, Jalen Mills has been around for a while. He was drafted in 2016 and has managed to get shots to play everywhere he goes. He spent five seasons with the Eagles and was their starting cornerback when they won the Super Bowl in 2018.

Like current Lions safety Avonte Maddox, Mills can play just about anywhere in the secondary. The majority of his starts have come at safety, though. In addition to his time with the Eagles, Mills also started for the Patriots and Jets. This year, he’s played four games with the Texans before they released him.
