You never really know what you’re going to get in each week of an NFL season. The 2025 Miami Dolphins are a great embodiment of this with their play, be it a 25-point loss to the Cleveland Browns or a 17-point win over the Buffalo Bills. But the unpredictable nature of the league extends well beyond the parity that is so rampant across the league right now.

It also includes the unpredictable storylines that stem from so many men and women affiliated with 32 separate franchises. One such unpredictable turn has reared its head this afternoon and with it, threatens to turn the Dolphins’ Week 15 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers upside down.

Steelers star pass rusher T.J. Watt is in the hospital for evaluation stemming from discomfort on Wednesday

Arguably the Pittsburgh Steelers’ best player, pass rusher T.J. Watt, will not practice with the team on Thursday as they start on-field preparation for Miami. The reason? He’s at the hospital undergoing evaluation for discomfort in his chest. Per a release from the Steelers, Watt experienced discomfort on Wednesday at the practice facility and “his status for Monday night’s game vs. Miami is in question.”

First and foremost, here’s hoping this is much ado about nothing for Watt. Medical scares are never pleasant but the need for medical evaluation to this degree is more than just scary, it’s unsettling. Hopefully head coach Mike Tomlin can provide a positive update for Watt in the near future.

If it does prevent Watt from playing on Monday night, it would certainly be a blow to Pittsburgh’s outlook defensively. The Steelers have several other disruptors in their front seven — but none of them offer the resume of a seven-time Pro Bowler with 115 career sacks. This is a storyline to watch, both in hopes of a positive update for Watt individually and for the potential implications of Monday night’s big game in Pittsburgh as the Dolphins look to reach .500 for the first time this season.
