Commanders 3-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft: Washington adds playmaker on defense with the No. 8 overall pick following Week 15 win
The Commanders take EDGE David Bailey and WR Ja’Kobi Lane in latest 3-round 2026 NFL mock draft following their Week 15 win.
The Washington Commanders finally snapped their losing streak and got an ugly win on the road against the New York Giants.
The win shook up the order for the 2026 NFL Draft and dropped the Commanders from the No. 6 overall pick to the No. 8 overall pick. So what now? Should the Commanders trade back still, or stay and pick where they are?
There are still three games left in the season, but my latest mock draft has the Commanders staying at No. 8 overall and taking a pass rusher.
Commanders 3-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 8: David Bailey, EDGE, Texas Tech
In this mock draft, the Commanders take the best defensive player on the best defense in college this season, Texas Tech EDGE rusher David Bailey. The Commanders need to address the position, and they do so in the first round. Bailey is a fast and twitchy pass rusher who possesses an arsenal of moves, complemented by speed and strength, to easily get to the quarterback.
People will question his size at 6-3, 250 pounds, but he has an arm length between 34-35 inches, which is excellent for his position. For context, Micah Parsons was measured at 31.5-inch arms leading up to the draft.
Just pop on the tap and watch how Bailey collected a whopping 74 pressures and 14 sacks this season. Bailey is the second-highest graded defender in college football and the highest graded pass rusher among all EDGE defenders on PFF. The Commanders would finally get an instant playmaker at the position for years to come, and it would help the entire defense out.
Round 3, Pick 73: Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, USC
The Commanders need to add playmakers on offense for Jayden Daniels, and they give him another starting boundary wide receiver in Ja’Kobi Lane from USC. Lane is a 6-4 200-pound wide receiver who is a physical nightmare matchup for defenders. He uses his athletic ability and body control to dominate at the catch point and adjust to any pass in the air.
Lane has 750 yards and four touchdowns on the season, with Makai Lemon sharing the production as well. He found the end zone 12 times last season, so he has a knack for scoring. The Commanders can finally add a true option opposite of Terry McLaurin on the outside, and Lane can win close to the line of scrimmage or as a downfield threat as well.
