Titans steal veteran safety who started multiple games this season from the Lions
The Lions lose Erick Hallett and sign Keenan Garber
Life moves at you pretty fast. On Sunday, you’re starting at safety for the Detroit Lions, and on Tuesday, you’re heading to Nashville to join the Tennessee Titans’ 53-man roster. That’s how Erick Hallet’s last few days have gone. He’s been poached off the Lions’ practice squad.
Hallet has spent the last two seasons with the Lions, and out of necessity, he’s started two games and played in three this year. He’s actually not been too bad either. He’s allowed six catches for 93 yards and had a nice pass breakup on Davante Adams on Sunday against the Rams. It was a big boy pass breakup, too.
The shame in this is that the Lions couldn’t really stop it from happening. But the good thing is that they’re somewhat protected here. The Lions signed veteran Domantae Kazee and claimed veteran Jalen Mills last week. On top of that, Thomas Harper could be out of concussion protocol, and Avonte Maddox has played well. Then there’s the shot that Kerby Joseph could play.
Taking Hallet’s spot on the practice squad is rookie cornerback Keenan Gerber. He played for Kansas State last year and spent some time with the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts this season.
