NFL officials told Lions coaches that if Lions receivers pick their nose one more time, they’ll get a penalty for it, seriously, this happened
The NFL is not a fun place anymore
What will NFL officials call next? In a weird game against the Rams, where Los Angeles tight end Colby Parkinson somehow caught, dropped, and caught a ball again for a touchdown three yards away from the end zone, the officials weren’t super worried about getting those types of things right.
They were more concerned with Lions receivers picking their noses. Seriously.
Amon-Ra St. Brown said officials warned coaches about Lions receivers doing a booger flicking celebration after first downs.
“Bro, we do it the first drive. Our receiver coach comes through it after the first drive,” Amon-Ra St. Brown said. ‘Hey, man, ref said, you guys can’t do that no more.’ What the (expletive?) Why is that bad? I want to know NFL, why can’t I dig in my nose and flick it? Like, there’s no way. What is bad about that? Is that disrespectful? Is that derogatory?”
St. Brown’s brother, Equanimeous, then called the league anti-fun and said it’s not like St. Brown was actually flicking a real booger at a player. This, of course, is not the first time that an official has gone to the Lions’ sideline to warn coaches about a celebration. Infamously, they did something right out of the Key and Peele TV show in 2023 when they said St. Brown was one pump away from a penalty.
If you’re curious what the celebration looks like, this is it. This is what officials were super worried about.
