Packers gain clarity and cautious hope after a report sheds new light on Micah Parsons injury situation
Micah Parsons suffered a torn ACL against the Denver Broncos last Sunday.
The Green Bay Packers will inevitably go through the rest of the season without edge defender Micah Parsons, who tore his ACL last Sunday against the Denver Broncos. The star player will have a long recovery and has already been placed on injured reserve.
Promising update on Micah Parsons’ injury
While an ACL injury could take anything from nine to 12 months of recovery, NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport brought a positive update for Green Bay. According to Rapoport, Parsons suffered a “clean ACL,” which increases his chances of being ready to play in Week 1 of the 2026 season.
“It is a clean ACL tear,” Rapoport said on Prime Video. “They’ll have surgery after they strengthen around the knee in the coming days and weeks. Faces a nine-month recovery, so he has a chance, I would say a good chance, to be ready for the start of the 2026 season.”
Right after the injury, Parsons posted on social media that a September return is his goal. He’s still young at 26, and his athletic ability helps.
It’s natural that Packers fans will be concerned because of what happened to David Bakhtiari, but that’s the exception. These days, players return from ACL injuries and can quickly perform at a high level again.
Christian Watson is a great example
Wide receiver Christian Watson tore his ACL on Jan. 5 during a Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears. He started the regular season on the physically unable to perform list, but returned to the field on Oct. 26, which means 294 days after the injury.
If Parsons returns on a similar timeline, that would mean a return on Oct. 4, in Week 4 of next season. But it’s already evident how much the edge rusher wants to beat that timeline and return by Week 1.
