NFL punishes Rams star WR Puka Nacua right before Christmas for speaking his mind toward their employees
The NFL just made a move for Puka Nacua’s wallet during the holiday season.
Fresh off a frustrating loss to the division rival Seattle Seahawks, emotions are running high for the Los Angeles Rams. Less than a week away from Christmas Day, Rams star wide receiver PUka Nacua is facing a new punishment from the NFL due to his recent actions.
Puka Nacua gets fined by NFL for comments on referees
According to Mike Garafolo, the Rams star wide receiver has been fined $25,000 for his mentioning of officiating recently. The Rams wideout has been in the headlines on multiple occasions over the last week, including right after LA’s overtime defeat to the Seahawks. Nacua totaled 225 yards on twelve catches and scored twice in that loss.
Nacua made strong comments on the officiating both before and after the game against Seattle. He believes that officials are more focused on being on television than actually getting calls correct on game day.
“The refs are the worst … They want to be on TV, too. You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you just saw me on “Sunday Night Football?” That
wasn’t pass interference, but I called it.” — Puka Nacua during livestream before TNF matchup
Then, after the game, he went to social media to air some grievances against officials once again, saying that he was correct in what he said pregame. Clearly, he was not a fan of some of the calls they made that weren’t in favor of his team.
Regardless, it is a situation where if you’re Nacua, there’s just no upside to these statements in public. What he tells his friends when the cameras are not on is a different story, but the league will always hold you accountable when you make these comments for millions to see on video or social media platforms.
