The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for kickoff. The Washington Commanders want to play spoiler in Week 16, with Philly owning a chance to clinch the NFC East division title with a win in this game. Philadelphia will be without star right tackle Lane Johnson for at least one more week, but luckily, the edge rush for Washington is quite weak.

Another roster decision on the inactive list due to a lingering injury can open the door for a different offensive player to step up and show his value on more than one level.

Eagles inactives for Week 16 vs. Commanders

  • RT Lane Johnson (foot)
  • DT Jalen Carter (shoulders)
  • TE Cameron Latu (stinger)
  • QB Sam Howell (emergency QB)
  • RB A.J. Dillon
  • CB Mac McWilliams
  • OLB Joshua Uche

Opportunity for depth tight end Kylen Granson could come to the forefront in this matchup. Since being signed before this season, Granson hasn’t seen much action for the Eagles offense, but with Cameron Latu on the shelf due to a stinger, he may receive more reps and opportunities.

Not to mention, Grant Calcaterra has struggled for the Eagles at times when it comes to run blocking. We may see an expansive version of Granson if that’s the case for the other TE early on versus the Commanders. In fourteen games so far this season, Granson has just three receptions for ten yards.

Granson has also been making special teams plays at times this year, and that gets noticed. We could see that effort and determination awarded a bit more often as the regular season unwinds. With unproven depth at the position for the Eagles, it would make sense.

Philly hasn’t been afraid to play multiple tight ends in multiple looks throughout a matchup, especially if they believe they can overpower a defense. Against Washington, that concept is definitely on the table. We will see what the game plan is for the Eagles and OC Kevin Patullo.

Overall for the Eagles, this inactives list didn’t hold any surprises between injury situations and healthy scratch spots.
