Lions appear to finally be giving former Florida standout a shot at center against the Steelers
Kerby Joseph’s season is offcially over
The Detroit Lions have their first of three consecutive must-win games on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they’ve made a few roster moves to get ready for that. Here’s what they did:
Placed Kerby Joseph on Injured Reserve
We knew it would happen at some point. The Lions tried as hard as they could to get Kerby Joseph back on the field this year, but it just never worked out. Now, we’ll have to wait until next season to see him again. An offseason of healing up and maybe some surgery can go a long way.
Activated OL Christian Mahogany
That’s a big one for sure. The Lions get their starting left guard back against the Steelers, and with the potential that Graham Glasgow could miss the game, they need all the help they can get on their offensive line.
The reason this is big is that the left guard spot has been where opposing defensive lines have generated the most pressure in the last few weeks.
Elevated C Kingsely Eguakun from the practice squad
Personally, I’ve been asking Dan Campbell about this since the summer, and when I asked a few weeks ago, Campbell said everything was on the table.
This is a huge moment for the second-year center. If Eguakun can go out there and have a great game, he can make the Lions have to think hard about whether or not they need to draft a center in the 2026 NFL Draft. Eguakun was a center at Florida for four years, and he’s really the only true center on the team.
Elevated TE Giovanni Ricci from the practice squad
Ricci played last week, and other than a bad holding call in the third quarter, he wasn’t bad. Now he has another week of the playbook under his belt. This should be a better outing for him.
