The New Orleans Saints gave fans a massive early Christmas present in Week 16. They dominated the second half in a 29-6 victory over the New York Jets to win their third straight game. With rookie quarterback Tyler Shough showing glimpses of fantastic play and a young defense causing havoc, New Orleans’ recent success has been a nice finish to an otherwise frustrating campaign in the twin column.

Veteran pass rusher Cameron Jordan got in on the merry performance with a great day for his own wallet. He hit multiple incentives in a performance that looked like 26-year-old Cam rather than the one playing into his late 30’s.

Cam Jordan earns huge incentives on two plays vs. Jets

Jordan made $800k in total on back-to-back plays against New York due to his sacks. He finished the first half incredibly strong by sacking Jets quarterback Brady Cook twice in succession. Demario Davis played a key role in the first one, and the second one was a nice rep win by Jordan. With two games left, Jordan is one sack away from another $600k boost if he can reach nine on the season.

Jordan’s production has taken a hit over the past two seasons, but this year’s campaign has been a bit different. Jordan has played better football in Brandon Staley’s scheme, one where he can move around a bit but mainly focus on getting after quarterbacks.

The future Saints Hall of Famer totaled just six sacks between the 2023 and 2024 seasons. This year, he is already at 8.5 and continues to climb with two game remaining on the schedule. Jordan has now sacked a QB on 29 different NFL teams during his illustrious career. The only teams he’s never gotten a sack vs. are the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens.

Potential swan song for Cam Jordan in New Orleans

This game could have been Jordan’s final one in New Orleans. As he has aged, he has remained consistent in believing that he will retire in black and gold if the Saints organization allows that to occur. After the game, he revealed that he had 24 sideline passes for this matchup and even more people in the stands there to support him and the team.

That could be a point to signal that he may retire following this season. If he does, he will surely go down as the greatest edge rusher to ever play for the Saints organization up to this point.

“With those two sacks, Cam Jordan now has 130 career sacks, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Fame LB Rickey Jackson to take sole possession of 17th all-time. Brady Cook also becomes the 51st different QB Jordan has taken down in his career.” — New Orleans Saints
