Bengals legend Willie Anderson receives multiple meaningful Hall of Fame endorsements from legends he’s gone up against
Willie Anderson is up for Hall of Fame induction yet again.
Former Cincinnati Bengals right tackle Willie Anderson is set to be a finalist for the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame. Current Hall of Famers Bill Cowher and Michael Strahan both believe Anderson should join them in Canton, OH.
Cowher, who’s been an analyst for CBS’ The NFL Today since 2007, coached the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1992-2006. He watched Anderson 23 times from the opposing sideline. Strahan has been an analyst for FOX NFL Sunday pregame show since his 2008, but played against Anderson twice in his illustrious career on the field for the New York Giants. He amassed 141.5 sacks in his 15-year career as a defensive end.
They have each seen Anderson’s abilities in-person, and have been involved with the league for the last 30+ years. Both told prominent Bengals fan Jim Foster it’s time to get him inducted.
Bill Cowher’s Hall of Fame endorsement for Willie Anderson
“I just have great respect for him,” Cowher said. “The way he played the game, his presence on the field. He was a difference maker and a consistency with which he played. I didn’t see the guy give up sacks. I know when they had to run the ball on third and one they were running behind him. So it says volumes about the guy who was a complete football player, a dependable football player, and a very productive football player.
“Without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever gone against. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.”
Michael Strahan’s Hall of Fame endorsement for Willie Anderson
“I know, as a commentator, as a player, watching the game, in and out every week, every day, what greatness is, and what beyond greatness is. And Willie was beyond Great,” Strahan said. “Willie Anderson is a Hall of Famer. He needs to be officially considered a Hall of Famer, because he more than deserved it.
“So please vote for my friend Willie Anderson for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”
Anderson has been a finalist for the last four years and will be joined by Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly and Adam Vinatieri as automatic finalists this year by virtue of finishing in the top seven for election last year. They will all make the final 15, which will be announced before the end of 2025.
If the voters listen to those who’ve already been inducted by them, Anderson has a good shot at becoming the third-ever Bengal to make the Hall of Fame. Anthony Munoz was the first to receive the honor back in 1998, and Ken Riley was posthumously inducted in 2023.
