2 winners and 6 losers from the Lions’ loss to the Vikings

There’s been three winners in the winner category in the last weeks. End this nightmare season

The Detroit Lions had probably the most embarrassing loss of the Dan Campbell era on Sunday when they turned the ball over six times and let a team that passed for three yards beat them. It was that bad. Now, I have to figure out the winners and losers for this one. Here goes nothing.

Winners

Aidan Hutchinson

Back-to-back multi-sack games for Hutchinson, and this one brought him up to a career high of 12.5 sacks. Man, imagine what this guy could do if the Lions paired him up with someone on the opposite side of him. Al-Quadin Muhammad is fine, but the Lions need to have a real investment in the trenches this offseason.

Amon-Ra St. Brown

It wasn’t St. Brown’s best game ever or anything like that, but it is notable that in this game, he became just the fifth receiver in NFL history to have three consecutive seasons with at least 100 receptions. That’s big-time stuff. Not even Calvin Johnson did that.

Losers

Kingsley Eguakun

Man, this game meant so much for him. After a solid debut against the Steelers, Eguakun had a chance to maybe plant some roots at center. Instead, he played a very bad game that included two botched snaps that were recovered by the Vikings. The second one was one of the worst snaps I think I’ve ever seen. Eguakun just kind of threw it back there and jumped into his block. It went right over Goff’s head. At this point, I couldn’t tell you what his future looks like in Detroit. It’s probably no great.

Jared Goff

Goff had zero time to do anything, and the thing that really sucks about putting him in this section is that now we all have to listen to casuals who don’t know ball talk about how bad they think Goff is, even though he might have had the best year of his career. But this offensive line did him absolutely no favors in his game, and Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, the genie from Aladdin, that one 7-foot quarterback I created on NFL 2K back in the day, or Devon Sawa from Little Giants would have been able to play well under this kind of pressure. Learn ball of you think otherwise.

Jahmyr Gibbs

The same thing goes for Gibbs. Man, how do you run behind an offensive line that can’t open any holes for you? We can all agree he might be the best running back in the league, but he’s getting swallowed up immediately out there, and I just don’t know what more he can do. He’s trying to go inside and outside, and it’s just not making a difference.

Giovanni Ricci

We don’t talk about Ricci a lot, but it’s not great that when we do, we’re talking about some back-breaking penalty he just committed. The Lions were moving down the field and had a chance to convert on a 4th-and-1, and then Ricci got called for a false start, and the Lions had to punt. On top of that, he had a shot in the end zone and just missed it.

Dan Skipper

Skipper had to come in on short notice. Taylor Decker was one of the players who was dealing with an illness ahead of the game. Skipper had a bad day, allowing two of the four sacks Goff got hit with on Thursday.

Netflix

Are you happy, Netflix? Do you feel like you got your money’s worth? Can you please stop having games on Christmas and leave the day to the NBA? Also, what was that weird thing where you did a full video of spoilers ruining your own shows? What was this whole thing?
