Bengals rule multiple players out for Week 17 matchup vs. Cardinals but remain the healthier team entering the weekend
Cincinnati and Arizona combine to rule out seven players before the weekend even arrives.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals wrapped up practices for the week leading up to their Week 17 matchup in Cincinnati, and several Bengals players are already out for the game, but there are even more health questions on the other sideline.
Let’s take a look at Friday’s injury reports for both Cincinnati and Arizona.
Bengals Friday injury report
| Player | Injury | W/T/F | Designation |
| TE Noah Fant | Ankle | Limited/Limited/Full | QUESTIONABLE |
| TE Cam Grandy | Chest | DNP/DNP/DNP | OUT |
| DT B.J. Hill | Ankle | DNP/DNP/Limited | QUESTIONABLE |
| WR Charlie Jones | Ankle | DNP/DNP/DNP | OUT |
| S PJ Jules | Ankle | Full/Full/Full | — |
| C Matt Lee* | Knee | Limited/Limited/Limited | OUT |
| CB Josh Newton | Hamstring | —/—/Limited | QUESTIONABLE |
| DE Joseph Ossai | Ankle | DNP/DNP/DNP | OUT |
Observations
- Joseph Ossai (ankle) headlines the four Bengals who will not play Sunday. Ossai is a nine-game starter this season, but hasn’t practiced since Week 15 and missed Week 16’s win over the Dolphins. The 25-year old missing Sunday’s game will add more pressure on him to play next week in order to hit a lucrative contract incentive. He can securing an extra $250,000 if he reaches six sacks on the year. He’s currently at five, and there’s only one more chance he can get No. 6.
- Cam Grandy (chest) and Charlie Jones (ankle) are also out for Sunday. Both players are considered week-to-week. Noah Fant (ankle) at least has a chance to play and give Cincinnati four healthy tight ends for the game. Fant missed last week’s game.
- B.J. Hill (ankle) and Josh Newton (hamstring) are also questionable. Hill went DNP-DNP-Limited last week and played, so that is the expectation this week as well. Newton is a surprise addition to the injury report and may be a game-time decision after going limited Friday.
- Matt Lee (knee) is also out, but he would still need to be activated to the 53-man roster before he can actually play again. The second-year player has not appeared in a game since Week 6.

| S Jalen Thompson | Hamstring | Limited/Limited/Limited | QUESTIONABLE |
Observations
- Budda Baker (concussion/thumb) and Josh Sweat (ankle/knee) are both out for Sunday. Baker and Sweat are two of four Cardinals who’ve played every single game for Arizona this season. Baker has a team-high 111 tackles and was voted to his eighth Pro Bowl earlier this week/ Sweat leads the Cards with 11 sacks.
- Paris Johnson (knee) is also out for the third consecutive week with his knee injury. Kei’Trel Clark (back) won’t play, and has only played in one game since Week 12.
- Hjalte Froholdt (elbow), Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel), Will Johnson (thumb/chest), Max Melton (heel), and Jalen Thompson (hamstring) are all questionable. Arizona could be without both of their starting safeties if Thompson can’t play. Johnson’s also started eight games at cornerback since Week 5. Froholdt and Harrison have been season-long starters at center and wide receiver, respectively.
