Colts get some bad news just ahead of their season finale, as they look to wrap up their late season collapse

It’s been a rough end of the season for the Colts, but before it comes to an end, there was one more bit of bad news they must face.

The Indianapolis Colts have lost their last six games and have lost seven of their previous eight. It’s genuinely been one of the worst collapses in NFL history. Sadly, it’s not over yet, with one more game remaining in the season, as they hit the road to take on the Houston Texans in Week 18.

Before that game kicks off, the Colts had one more bit of bad news to share with fans ahead of what will be a difficult offseason. The team announced its final injury report for the 2025-2026 season, ruling out multiple key players.

Colts rule out Sauce Gardner and multiple others for their Week 18 matchup with the Texans

After missing practices early in the week, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Colts ruled out star CB Sauce Gardner. He reaggravated his calf injury in Week 17, and with nothing left to play for, the team needed to play it safe with a player they invested two first-round picks to trade for this season.

The Colts also ruled out three others on top of Gardner. Most notably, QB Anthony Richardson, who the team selected with the fourth pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, officially ending his season without logging a single start for the first time in his NFL career. The team will now have a significant decision to make this offseason regarding Richardson’s future.

All eyes will be on rookie Riley Leonard, who is set to make his first start. It won’t be easy, as the Texans still technically have something to play for and have one of the best, if not the best, defenses in the league.

It is less than ideal that the team is yet again playing a meaningless Week 18 matchup, but hopefully, young players can seize the opportunity to show they deserve to be part of the team’s future.
