A key Tennessee Vols player will return to Rocky Top in 2026 on a new deal.

Vols running back DeSean Bishop has agreed to a new deal with Tennessee according to his agency.

The Knoxville native rushed for 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025. Bishop will be a redshirt junior in 2026.

DeSean Bishop has a real chance to become Tennessee’s all-time rushing leader

Bishop has a real chance to become Tennessee’s all-time rushing leader before his time with the Vols is over.

Travis Henry is currently the Vols’ all-time rushing leader with 3,078 rushing yards.

Bishop currently has 1,531 career rushing yards. He needs to average 774 yards over the next two seasons (1,548 total rushing yards) to break Henry’s record.

If Bishop stays healthy, that mark could easily be attainable. The one thing that might hold him back is if the Vols land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. If Tennessee signs Gabriel Georges, the elite running back would almost certainly see significant action as a true freshman (he’s that type of talent), which would overlap with Bishop’s final season at Tennessee.

It’s also possible that Bishop could become Tennessee’s all-time rushing touchdowns leader. Gene McEver currently holds the record with 37 rushing touchdowns. Bishop needs to average 9.5 touchdowns over the next two seasons to get to 38.
