The transfer portal has been crazier than ever this cycle, and there’s been no shortage of once highly touted recruits becoming available. The Ohio State Buckeyes have seen that firsthand, with more than 25 players in total exiting the program.

Ohio State has seen quite the exodus at wide receiver outside of Jeremiah Smith and Brandin Inniss. When you add in Carnell Tate declaring for the NFL Draft, the Buckeyes will have a couple of new names stepping up next year.

Mylan Graham is one of those former highly touted Brian Hartline recruits who hit the portal, and he’s expected to land at another major program.

Mylan Graham is predicted to sign with Notre Dame out of the transfer portal

On3 believes that the former Ohio State wide receiver will be heading to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish via the transfer portal. Graham spent two seasons with the Buckeyes and was a five-star recruit out of Indiana in the class of 2024.

Graham played in 13 games over two seasons with Ohio State and caught six passes for 93 yards. Heading to Notre Dame would be signing up to play for former Ohio State standout Marcus Freeman.

Graham was going to have a chance to compete for playing time for the Buckeyes this season behind Inniss in the slot, but instead is expected to find a more concrete role. The speed Graham shows once he has the ball in his hands is exciting, but it was never put on display in Columbus.

According to 247 Sports, Graham is the No. 130 overall player in the transfer portal and No. 35 wide receiver. Ohio State has brought in UTSA WR Devin McCuin from the portal to help retool its depth.

Notre Dame makes sense for Mylan Graham

With Malachi Fields leaving this offseason for the NFL, Notre Dame has been trying to find answers at boundary wide receiver in the transfer portal. While that is the top need, the Fighting Irish are also in business to add speed. That’s where Graham comes in.

Although his production has been limited in his first two years with the team, Graham would be able to add that vertical and after-catch speed that offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock wants more and more of.

Notre Dame was high on Graham coming out in the 2024 recruiting class, but the fit just didn’t make sense at the time, and he ended up opting to play under wide receivers coach Brian Hartline. If the Irish land the former five-star recruit, it would be a great addition for Freeman and Co. As soon as he entered the portal, Graham became a big priority. The Irish desperately want to bring the Indiana native back to his home state.

If Notre Dame can close on Graham, it will still be on the search for a talented boundary option with impact size. I expect the Irish to pursue fellow Ohio State transfer Quincy Porter. That big body pass catcher could be the missing link for another jump in the passing game led by quarterback CJ Carr.
