The Philadelphia Eagles are on the field ahead of their first playoff action. For their wild-card battle against the San Francisco 49ers, Philly was hoping to get Lane Johnson back in action.

That won’t come to fruition quite yet, though.

Eagles star right tackle Lane Johnson is inactive for game against 49ers

After practicing in limited fashion all week, Eagles RT Lane Johnson is inactive for Sunday’s game vs. San Francisco. After some hope in the middle of the week that he would suit up, that confidence faded with reports on Saturday that he may not play due to his injury. Fred Johnson will start at RT for Philadelphia.

Versatile offensive lineman Brett Toth had already been ruled out earlier in the weekend. That is notable since he can play three different spots as a main backup, so their depth is running thin.

Young tackle Cameron Williams is expected to be active for the Eagles as well. He will be an important depth piece for the Eagles’ offense.

We will see how the Eagles attempt to attack the 49ers’ defense, which has been struggling up front recently. It’s down to backups of the backups at linebacker, and its top talent along the defensive line is also injured. Without Johnson, the task is taller for the Eagles, but they have no excuse not to find success vs. SF’s defensive unit.

Your move, Kevin Patullo.
