The Alabama Crimson Tide had a quiet Sunday. Honestly, it was met with a ton of grief from the fanbase, as the Tide struck out on Cam Coleman and watched Hollywood Smothers leave for the Texas Longhorns just days after committing to Alabama.

What came became crystal clear on Sunday night and was proven true yet again on Monday, however, is that Alabama isn’t interested in flash. The Crimson Tide is interested in getting back to dominating the trenches. With their latest addition, they are one step closer.

Former 5-star Ty Haywood commits to Alabama

This marks the third key addition or re-signing for Alabama along the offensive line. Michael Carroll is coming back at right tackle, Kaden Staryhorn along the interior, and now, Alabama locked in a commitment from his former teammate, Ty Haywood.

Those three form a terrific trio at the T-C-T positions, all of which are experiencing loss this offseason. Beyond that, however, Alabama simply wasn’t good enough in the trenches in 2025, and a team source told A to Z Sports, “building the trenches back up is a must,” for 2026. For more on the addition, here is A to Z Sports Alabama contributor Josh Taylor.

“Ty Haywood was one of the top 2025 offensive tackle recruits, and Alabama was on the doorstep of landing him before he flipped to Michigan. Haywood is making things right by committing to the Crimson Tide, and the timing couldn’t be any better. If Michael Carroll plays at right tackle next season, Haywood can take over for Kadyn Proctor at left tackle.”

“If Carroll plays right guard, Haywood can play right tackle, while Jackson Lloyd plays left tackle. He’s a mammoth at 6-5, 315 pounds, and he can be an instant starter, despite only playing 15 snaps for Michigan last year. The Crimson Tide will have options up front depending on who else they land via the transfer portal over the next few days.” -Taylor
