We tried to tell Detroit Lions fans that teams would be interested in interviewing their coaches this offseason, despite the Lions missing the playoffs. So far, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have interviewed David Shaw and Jett Modkins for two different jobs, and now another team in Florida is calling.

This should come as a shock to nobody. The Lions’ defense was humming this year until injuries became too much, and even on some occasions, the injuries didn’t matter. The way Kelvin Sheppard called wins over the Buccaneers, Cowboys, and Bears with shorthanded defenses and the Legion of Whom was bound to get him some interviews. If you can get practice squad players to play like that, teams will be interested in you.

This will be Sheppard’s first head coach interview, and you can bet that it won’t be his last. Don’t be shocked if the Arizona Cardinals come calling soon, too.
