Former Ohio State football starter has found a new home in the SEC for his final season in college
The former Ohio State Buckeyes starter won’t be heading very far to play in the SEC.
The Ohio State Buckeyes had a terrific start to the week with transfer portal additions following a slow start.
Ohio State added a pair of safeties in the last 36 hours with Florida State S Earl Little Jr. and Duke S Terry Moore. On Monday evening, Ohio State landed Alabama duo DT James Smith and EDGE Qua Russaw from the portal.
On the flip side, the Buckeyes have had nearly 30 players exit the program via the portal. The only former starter who decided to leave just found his new home.
Former Buckeye Tegra Tshabola heading to the SEC
Former Ohio State starting RG Tegres Tshabola committed to play for the Kentucky Wildcats on Monday — and he’ll play his final year of college football playing for former Oregon Ducks OC Will Stein.
Tshabola was a two-year starter for the Buckeyes who struggled with consistency during that time. The Lakota West (OH) native was rotated at times in 2025 with Gabe VanSickle and Josh Padilla taking some reps. Ohio State is expected to return its offensive line outside of Tshabola for the 2026 season.
Over the last two seasons, Tshabola allowed 24 pressures and a pair of sacks in 29 games on the interior. Ohio State’s offensive line played its worst down the stretch of the season with 10 sacks given up between the final two games. If Tshabola were to return in 2026, there was no sure word that he would start for the Buckeyes.
Tshabola lands with a school that recruited him out of high school in 2022 — and he’ll get a chance to build his NFL resume for one last season. Ohio State is evaluating offensive line additions in the transfer portal — but one has not been made yet.
