Jayden Daniels is returning to the field sooner than expected, but not for the Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels will be playing in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Saudi Arabia with Tom Brady.
The Washington Commanders are making changes this offseason and looking to bounce back in 2026. This is also a massive offseason for their franchise quarterback, Jayden Daniels.
Daniels will have a familiar face in David Blough, the new offensive coordinator, who will run a new offensive system for the Commanders. Everyone is anticipating Daniels’ return to the field after an injury-riddled 2025 season, and we will actually see him play sooner than expected, just not in the way anyone expected.
Jayden Daniels will play in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic
It might not be the way we had hoped, but we will get to see Daniels play football soon. Daniels was at a launch event in Los Angeles and announced that he play and be a team captain in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Saudi Arabia with Tom Brady on March 21.
It’s been obvious that Brady thinks very highly of Daniels, and even says he’s his favorite quarterback to watch, and the next one to carry the torch in the league.
“You’re always looking for what’s next in the NFL, who’s really going to carry the torch,” Brady said. “From a retired quarterback, there’s nobody I love seeing out there playing on the field more than Jayden.”
It will be the only time we will ever see Daniels and Brady on the same field playing together, which is actually crazy to think about.
Jayden Daniels will be playing for the first time since being shut down for the season
We haven’t seen Daniels throw a football since the Week 14 game against the Minnesota Vikings, when he went down on his elbow again. Head coach Dan Quinn announced that Daniels wouldn’t play again in 2025 and that it was time for him to get healthy and head into the offseason early.
Daniels will have a lot of work to do this offseason, as Blough introduces a new offense that he’s never played in before. It’s not all on him, however; the Commanders also need to do a better job building around him with a better supporting cast on both sides of the ball.
We won’t see Daniels in a Commanders uniform until the offseason programs begin after the NFL Draft, but at least we get to see him throwing the ball again and on the field with the GOAT for the first time ever.
