Pros of Caleb Banks
- Massive frame at 6-6 and 330 lbs, and knows just how to use his size to his advantage
- Despite what his size suggests, he expects to test very well athletically
- Possesses a terrific motor that your typical nose tackle doesn’t have; therefore, he isn’t forced off the field as often
Cons of Caleb Banks
- If he is going to stay on the field for obvious he will need to not rely solely on his side and athleticism by developing actual pass rush moves
- Struggles to identify where a run is heading at times and finds himself out of position at times as a result
- Most NFL coaches will want him to cut down on the arm tackles that he tends to lean on heavily
Background
Banks finished his high school career as a three-star recruit and landed at Louisville, where he spent his first two seasons. He appeared in only seven games with Louisville before transferring to the Florida Gators for the final three years of his collegiate career.
He appeared in all 12 games in 2023 but had his breakout season in 2024. Banks set his career high with 4.5 sacks. Sadly, an injury held him out of most of his final season with the Gators. Multiple scouts had high grades on him following his 2024 showing, though, so he likely did enough to still have his name called in the top 50, possibly even the first round.
Player Evaluation
Banks has something you simply can’t teach, and that’s his mountain-like size. He stands at 6-6 and weighs roughly 330 lbs. It takes everything an offensive lineman has to move Banks off his spot. It takes a lot of energy just to keep Banks at bay for one snap, let alone an entire game. While he can wear down offensive linemen, he still has a long way to go before he can consistently impact the game as a pass rusher. He still seems pretty raw in using actual pass-rush moves rather than just relying on his size and athleticism.
