Tennessee among top schools for important 2027 recruit and it’s a recruiting battle the Vols really need to win
The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for a UT legacy recruit.
The Tennessee Vols are among the top schools for one of the top linebackers in the nation.
2027 four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II included Tennessee in his top four on Monday, along with Ole Miss, Alabama, and Texas A&M.
Simon, 6-foot-2/190 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is the son of former Vols linebacker Kevin Simon. He’s rated as the No. 11 linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 player in the state of Tennessee.
Kenneth Simon is getting close to announcing his commitment
Simon, who was in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago for UT’s junior day, doesn’t have a scheduled commitment date yet, but he told On3 this week that he’s “close to the finish line”.
“I don’t know if it’ll be before or after (official visits),” said Simon to On3. “I have to talk about it with my family, but I’m close to the finish line. Checking out a few more details before I make the decision.”
Earlier on Monday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong noted that Alabama is one of Simon’s top two schools.
“The Crimson Tide are in the top two, perhaps even running No. 1 for four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon,” wrote Wiltfong.
It feels like this battle is going to come down to Alabama and Tennessee. It seems clear that Simon isn’t going to commit to the Vols just because his dad played on Rocky Top. If Tennessee is going to win this recruiting battle, they’ll need to knock it out of the park during Simon’s official visit.
