Former 3 time All-Pro receiver wants to team up with Josh Allen in 2026
Well, this would be fun.
The Buffalo Bills are already beginning their busy offseason. Buffalo has hired former offensive coordinator Joe Brady as the team’s next head coach after Sean McDermott was let go, spending nine seasons with the team, but the fun doesn’t end there. Buffalo is also hoping to revamp the roster, with limited cap space, to be competitive once the new season rolls around. One of the biggest talking points is and will be wide receiver.
Well, quarterback Josh Allen could get some immediate help if the team decides to listen to former All-Pro wide receiver and a player that’s been tied to Buffalo on more than one occasion: DeAndre Hopkins.
DeAndre Hopkins wants to play with Josh Allen
The veteran wide receiver spoke with Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” when the topic of Buffalo and Allen came up. Needless to say, Hopkins is still a fan.
“Me and Josh Allen could do some damage for sure,” Hopkins said.
It’s not the first time that Hopkins has showered Buffalo and Allen with praise. In 2023, Hopkins was released by the Arizona Cardinals and was teasing the Bills Mafia every step of the way. With a post including “Buffalo Soldier” on Instagram, to gushing about wanting to play with Josh Allen while speaking on a podcast, it seemed like it was a match made in heaven. Hopkins had demanded a trade, and after finding no suitable partner, he hit the open market after being released by Arizona.
While he claimed he was chasing a ring and not the bag, Hopkins ultimately wound up joining the Tennessee Titans on a two-year, $26 million contract. He was, in fact, chasing that bag.
Hopkins spent the 2023 and part of the 2024 season with the Titans, totalling 90 receptions for 1230 yards and eight touchdowns before joining the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. In his lone season, albeit a shortened season since joining late from the Titans, he finished with 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns. After the 2024 season, he signed a one-year, $5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. He finished with 22 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
Still some gas in the tank for Hopkins after 13 seasons
The 13-year veteran appears to still have plenty left in the tank and has a message for anyone doubting his abilities, especially after his tenure with the Tennessee Titans.
“I’m a football guy, and Buffalo, I feel like, is a football team. Josh Allen is a football player; he’s a players player as we say. I think I’m quarterback proof if I’m just being honest,” Hopkins said. “I’m not saying that just to say that. Will Levis and I, we connected for almost 1000 yards and seven touchdowns. Give me a Josh Allen and who knows.”
Whether anything ever materializes is a different story, especially with Buffalo navigating a coaching change and a tight cap situation. But Hopkins’ comments made one thing clear: the interest in playing with Josh Allen hasn’t faded.
If the Bills are serious about adding some proven help on the outside, even if it’s for the wide receiver four position, it’s hard to ignore a veteran receiver who has openly wanted to come to Buffalo and still believes he could do serious damage in the offense.
One of Buffalo’s best players was an aging veteran receiver in Brandin Cooks. Why not add a little DeAndre Hopkins to the mix?
