The Oklahoma Sooners have been on a recruiting roll, landing top talent like 2028 running back Micah Rhodes and potentially 2027 four-star safety Jaylen Scott. Their momentum could soon continue with an elite cornerback commitment.

Trenton Blaylock, a highly regarded three-star cornerback, has narrowed his choices. He likes the Sooners, Texas Longhorns, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Kentucky Wildcats, among others. His brother, star running back Tory Blaylock, recently tweeted he’s recruiting for OU, as Vandy currently leads for his younger brother.

“Let me see what I can do,” Tory Blaylock wrote on Twitter.

Oklahoma remains a strong contender in Blaylock’s recruitment.

Trenton Blaylock likes what the Sooners bring

“They definitely have still been pushing for me — even with the commits that they already have,” Blaylock told Rivals. “What’s exciting me the most about Oklahoma is the fact that they play their guys early, and we’ve seen it with a lot of guys in that freshman class, including my brother. So just being around him a lot and knowing what Oklahoma stands for and what I’m getting out of the program stands out about them the most to me. I feel like I fit well with that program.”

Oklahoma must do more than have a brother on the team to recruit. OU has four-star CB Mikhail McCreary and three-star CB Miykal Davis committed for 2027. Oklahoma is also targeting four-star CBs JuJu Johnson, Darius Johnson, Dhillon McGee, and Gabriel Osborne Jr., all projected to join OU in 2027.

Of course, not all will, but that’s a lot of players at the same position potentially coming in. That means more competition between Blaylock and those players; thus, it’s more likely that some of these players won’t see the field at all. Not to mention, standout cornerback Courtland Guillory will be a junior, and Eli Bowen will be a senior, if he’s still on the team and not in the draft.

Ultimately, Blaylock faces a key decision: join the Sooners’ crowded cornerback competition, or choose another program where immediate playing time may be more accessible. Meanwhile, Tory’s recruiting push continues to keep Oklahoma in the conversation.
