Colts can finally breathe as latest NFL news points toward them not losing key staff members

The Colts have been waiting to see how many of their coaches they’d have to replace, and it seems they just got the answer.

The Super Bowl hasn’t even been played, and the smoke is already starting to clear around the 10 teams that have named new head coaches.

The Indianapolis Colts weren’t one of them, but the 10 new coaching staffs around the league caused some complications. The team had to sit back while multiple top staff members interviewed for jobs elsewhere.

This included Lou Aanrumo interviewing for multiple head coach openings. He didn’t land any of them and will return to the team as the defensive coordinator in 2026. Other staff members still seemed to be in play for jobs elsewhere, though recent news appears to have ended those possibilities as well.

Giants hire Matt Nagy as their OC over two Colts staff members

Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter had two interviews with the Philadelphia Eagles for the same position on their staff. He didn’t land the job, but he also interviewed for the same position on the new New York Giants head coach, John Harbaugh’s, staff.

He wasn’t the only Colts staff member Harbaugh had interest in, though, as passing game coordinator Alex Tanney also interviewed for the offensive coordinator opening. So, yet again, the Colts were waiting to see whether they would lose a key coach.

Thankfully, it feels like they are finally out of the woods as the Giants elected to hire former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy. The Colts’ only staff opening remains the defensive line coach. It’s a hire that may seem small but could make or break their attempts to reshape the room this offseason.
