Tennessee remains in the mix to potentially remedy a major recruiting miss from 2026
The Vols are still in contention for a major target out West.
The Tennessee Volunteers made a strong push for the top player in the state of Utah for the 2026 cycle in five-star athlete Salesi Moa. Ultimately, they came up just short, with Moa, who signed with Utah before following former head coach Kyle Whittingham to Michigan.
Josh Heupel and his staff are right back in it again with the top-ranked player in Utah for the 2027 cycle in Kaysville, UT (Davis High School) athlete Bode Sparrow. And it appears that, at least for the time being, the Vols are on solid footing with the talented recruit.
Per On3 Sports/Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett, Sparrow has Tennessee in his list of 10 schools that he’s down to.
Tennessee makes top ten for four-star Kaysville, UT athlete Bode Sparrow
Sparrow checks in as the No. 84 overall player, No. 5 athlete, and No. 1 player in the state of Utah for the 2027 cycle. He holds offers from a slew of notable schools. However, the one to watch appears to be Oklahoma, who On3 Sports/Rivals projects as the current leader.
A highly versatile player with a knack for big plays, Sparrow has made a major impact in high school on both sides of the ball. Last year, he totaled 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and seven interceptions on defense while posting 83 catches for 1218 yards and 16 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.
Missing out on Moa was one of the major losses from the 2026 cycle for Heupel and his staff. However, Sparrow would be a terrific pickup to help ease that sting in a big way. And for the time being, the Vols are at least still in the picture to do that.
