NFL insiders dump a bucket of cold water on the Bears’ dreams of landing Maxx Crosby this offseason
A Maxx Crosby would be hard for the Chicago Bears to pull off and he seemingly has another preferred team.
The name Maxx Crosby has been a popular name in Chicago the past few weeks and that chatter will only continue to increase going into the start of the new league year and rightfully so.
The Chicago Bears are in a win-now mode after proving to be a capable NFC contender during the 2025-26 season with a run that ended just short in the NFC’s Divisional Round. Adding a player of Crosby’s caliber can certainly get the Bears over the hump and into Super Bowl conversations.
But, it’s not always that easy and a player of Crosby’s caliber comes at a price, if he’s even made available in the first place considering he’s still under contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Bears insider Brad Biggs shares the risk and expected price for a Maxx Crosby trade
In his weekly Q&A, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune was asked about the possibility of trading for Crosby and seemed to be against the idea considering the price that comes with such a trade and the demand that the Raiders will expect in return.
“My intuition is that general manager Ryan Poles would have a hard time bundling two first-round draft picks or something close to that to acquire Crosby. If the price is lower, then it would be an intriguing option,” Biggs wrote.
“Please don’t think current Bears players who might not be great salary-cap fits could be valuable trade pieces in a bid to acquire Crosby. I firmly believe if the Raiders shop Crosby, they’ll be looking for a big-time return in draft capital.”
Later in the day, NFL insider Jay Glazer noted that he believes Crosby’s time with the Raiders is “done” and the cost will be similar to what the Green Bay Packers gave up for Micah Parsons (two first-round picks and a Pro Bowl player in Kenny Clark).
During his end-of-season press conference, general manager Ryan Poles seemed to be against the idea of trading the future for one player and making a rash decision that can negatively impact the long-term future of the organization.
At this point, it seems like wishful thinking unless something drastic changes in the coming weeks. And who’s to say Chicago is even Crosby’s ideal destination? Because one NFL insider believes another team has his attention that he’d like to play for.
Dianna Russini shares that Maxx Crosby wants to play for Mike Vrabel
“Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas,” Russini said on Wednesday, via 98.5 The Sports Hub. “Is he going to ask for [a trade] officially and ask out? Is that a guy? I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel. He’s told me before.”
Vrabel has turned into a very popular coach among top players in the NFL so Russini’s statement here wouldn’t surprise me at all. New England is set to play in the Super Bowl on Sunday and if they were the team to watch that Crosby wants to get traded to, the rest of the league should be on notice.
That’s something Bears fans don’t want to hear right now but it’s time to start focusing on reality and Crosby coming to Chicago doesn’t seem like a realistic option for the time being.
