Drew Brees will always be a fan favorite around the NFL for his historic, record book statistical output. For the New Orleans Saints, however, he was more than just a quarterback. He was a leader.

Brees came to New Orleans when tragedy struck off the field and led them to heights they’d never seen before. With that, his recent comments about his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction make plenty of sense.

Drew Brees announces obvious decision to represent Saints in Hall of Fame

In appearance on the New Heights show hosted by the Kelce brothers, the legendary QB made it clear that he will go into the Hall of Fame as a Saints player. Remember that Brees was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers but grew into the player he’s known as with New Orleans.

Brees started 58 games for the Chargers. For comparison, he drew 228 starting nods with the Saints. In totality, Brees ranks second all-time in league history with 80,358 passing yards and 571 touchdown passes.

Brees will ride in Bacchus parade to celebrate New Orleans

This Sunday, Saints fans will be able to congratulate Brees for everyone to see. He is reportedly set to ride atop a custom-decorated float in the Bacchus parade, according to Barry Kern.

Mardi Gras will feel a bit more special for the city with Brees involved. Plus, it will be his first time as a member of the Hall of Fame, even if everyone knew he would one day end up in Canton once he was eligible by the time his career finished with the Saints.
