Minnesota Vikings NFL Mock Draft Tracker: 31 new mock drafts continue to send strong signal at a position group with one major surprise

Brian Flores’ defense does a really good job of hiding cornerbacks, but that doesn’t mean the Vikings don’t need them.

We are seven weeks into the 2026 calendar year, and there isn’t any sort of consistency over who the Minnesota Vikings will take in the NFL Draft.

It’s to be expected that there is some sort of divide among experts, especially at this time of the cycle. However, the Vikings’ selections thus far show a relatively large divide between cornerback and everyone else.

Through six weeks and 114 mock drafts, 68 of them have been at cornerback, with Avieon Terrell of the Clemson Tigers being responsible for 40 of those. It’s widely viewed that the Vikings need to prioritize a cornerback, but is the first round the right place to do so?

Experts continue to weigh in on what the Vikings should do, and the consensus remains cornerback-heavy, and a quarterback makes their debut.

Minnesota Vikings NFL mock draft tracker 7.0

Kayden McDonald, DT, Ohio State

“The Vikings’ defense was incredible last season, but Minnesota still could use another hoss in the middle of the field. McDonald would make a lot of sense as a true nose tackle talent in Brian Flores’ defense, creating even more opportunities for Flores to put his players in the best positions possible for them to break games.” – Tice and McDonald

Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson

Scouting Report

“The Vikings need to think about adding more versatility to their back-end coverage and Terrell would be a great get to help in the slot between Isaiah Rodgers and Byron Murphy. Terrell is ideal for Brian Flores’ secondary scheme.” – Iyer

Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU

Scouting Report

“The Vikings need back-end help, potentially at both corner and safety. Delane is one of the most competitive on-ball coverage players in this class and was among the most disruptive man-coverage corners in the country the past two seasons.” – Baumgardner

Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee

“Hood was a breakout star for the Volunteers after transferring from Colorado. He’s physical at the line of scrimmage and boasts some of the best deep speed at the position in the class.” – Renner

Caleb Banks, DT, Florida

“Anyone who has been to an event like the Senior Bowl knows you do not put too much stock into one-on-ones, particularly along the offensive and defensive lines. While a flashy win for a defensive lineman makes for a great moment on social media, it is rare that a defensive lineman has a true “two-way go” against a blocker.” – Schofield

Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

Scouting Report

“If it wasn’t for a torn ACL that kept him out all of the 2025 season, Jermod McCoy could’ve seen himself as the top corner taken off the board and possibly a Top 10 pick. Minnesota needs to improve their secondary and McCoy is a ball-hawking playmaker.” – Pendleton

Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo

“This is a weird spot for the Vikings as they recently fired their general manager. But Harrison Smith seems likely to retire, so the Vikings need some safety help. McNeil-Warren was probably the top non-power conference player this season, logging nine forced fumbles and five interceptions in his career.” – Klatt

Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina

“Cisse is one of the most unique prospects in this class, as he’s a cornerback with uncommon strength and athletic ability; if he tests at the combine, get ready for a show. While a perimeter corner at his core, Cisse took occasional slot snaps at South Carolina. He was a force against the run from either alignment and can plaster perimeter wideouts in man coverage, staying physical and matching them stride-for-stride.

“Cornerback is a need for Minnesota, as Isaiah Rodgers is entering the final year of his deal. Plus, defensive coordinator Brian Flores has the ingenuity to deploy Cisse in many ways.” – Yates

C.J. Allen, LB, Georgia

Scouting Report

“The Vikings are reportedly paying defensive coordinator Brian Flores $6 million per year, making him the highest-paid assistant coach in NFL history. The massive salary suggests Flores will also have a greater say in personnel. The second level of the Vikings’ defense is missing a true alpha with the speed, physicality and instincts to star as an every-down linebacker. Allen would be a great fit in Flores’ system.” – Rang

Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama

“It’s pretty obvious that the early exit of GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah in Minnesota is tied to the fallout at the quarterback position. Despite having Sam Darnold in the building, Minnesota let him walk in favor of J.J. McCarthy, who needs a total overhaul of his mechanics. That takes time, and time that Kevin O’Connell and Co. may not have. Here they take a cerebral competitor with the anticipation and middle of the field layering that would mesh perfectly with O’Connell’s scheme. – Gregson, A to Z Sports’ Staff

Overview

This was the most mock drafts in a week that we have seen this year with 31, bringing the total up to 145. Cornerback continues to be a major priority for analysts across the board, and nobody can blame them. What is really interesting is seeing a safety come
