Pros of Mansoor Delane
- Versatile in coverage. Instincts and aggressiveness to play zone, hand usage, catch point skills, and speed to play man coverage.
- Hands and feet work as one in press coverage. Feet fire as fast as his hands. Not afraid to take on pass catchers that beat him in the height and weight department.
- Extremely physical for a corner. Initiates contact at the catch point and in run support.
Cons of Mansoor Delane
- Eyes can hurt him at times. Tendency to get a little greedy or guess wrong on some route combos.
- Ball skills. Troubles to track and locate deep shots at times. Getting his head around would allow for more potential interceptions.
- Size limitations. Not the tallest or longest, though he consistently plays above his measurables.
Background
A former wrestler at Archbishop Spalding High School in Maryland, you can see that background in the way he plays corner. Played at Virginia Tech from 2022-2024, finishing his junior season with the Hookies as a third-team All-ACC member.
Transferred to LSU in 2025, and despite the program being a mess, Delane became the fourth LSU Tigers defensive back to be a unanimous All-American, joining the likes of Patrick Peterson, Morris Claiborne, and Grant Delpit.
Player Evaluation
Delane checks a lot of boxes as a prospect. He’s an experienced player with scheme versatility and tangible traits that make him a reliable corner. His wrestling background shows up in the run game and at the catch point, where he turns into a bulldog.
There may be some concerns about his size and length, but the competitive will is evident with Delane. Few corners present the package of athleticism, long speed, and tenacity to play the run with as much effort as they do against the pass.
