Ohio State football receives great news regarding an elite player they’re chasing, and it’s a good sign for a new Buckeyes’ coaching addition
Ohio State is in the mix to land an elite wide receiver and it’s a player Brian Hartline was recruiting.
The Ohio State Buckeyes will start up spring practice next month and with it will come some key recruiting dates.
Ohio State has the No. 3-ranked class in the country for 2027 with nine commitments, according to 247sports. The Buckeyes have another great chance to bring in a top-5 class.
Wide receiver is a position to watch with Brian Hartline no longer in Columbus, but it appears new wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton is already hitting the ground running.
Ohio State to get official visit from a top wide receiver
The Buckeyes already have five-star WR Jamier Brown in the class, but they’re not stopping at just one elite wide receiver recruit. IMG Academy (FL) WR Eric McFarland has scheduled several official visits, including one to Columbus on June 12.
McFarland has officials scheduled to Georgia (May 15), Texas A&M (May 29), and USC (June 5). As it stands right now, the Buckeyes are his last official visit scheduled. That’s good news.
Ohio State will also welcome McFarland in April for the spring game where he’s expected to be one of the many visitors.
McFarland reclassified from 2028 to 2027 and was once being recruited by Hartline. With Hankton now running the recruitment, it’s a good sign the Buckeyes already have the 5-foot-8 electric playmaker scheduled to be on campus twice in the coming months.
According to 247sports composite, McFarland is the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 41 overall player in the class of 2027.
Ohio State will lose Jeremiah Smith after 2027, so continuing to add elite talent is prudent at the position. McFarland fits just that and the Buckeyes stand in a very strong spot.
