Cleveland Browns’ Myles Garrett drops bold statement on what he plans to do in the next 5 years of his NFL career
Myles Garrett has lofty expectations on what he wants to do in the next five years.
There wasn’t a ton of good to celebrate about the 2025 season for the Cleveland Browns. The 5-12 Browns competed as much as they could with an elite defense, but it was the offense holding them back.
Cleveland’s defense was elite, led by none other than DE Myles Garrett. Garrett won his second Defensive Player of the Year award as a result, and he has his sights on bigger things in the future.
Browns Myles Garrett holds nothing back on his future plans
Garrett totaled 23 sacks in 2025 to break the single-season sack record. The Browns’ superstar has plans of breaking the NFL all-time sack record, which Bruce Smith owns with 200 sacks in 19 seasons. Garrett currently sits at 125.5 sacks in nine seasons.
“I’m going to take that down, and prefer that I take it down here in the next five years,” Garrett said via Casino Guru News. “That is definitely on my mind to go out there and get. That’s a goal I’ve had for years now since college.”
Garrett is 75 sacks away from breaking the record and with him wanting to do it within five years, he will need to average 15 sacks between now and then. Garrett has recorded 15 or more sacks three times in his career. If Garrett plays longer than five more years and can stay healthy, it’s hard not to see him breaking the record.
Of active NFL players, Von Miller (138.5 sacks) and Cameron Jordan (132 sacks) are the only players ahead of Garrett on the all-time sack ranks. Garrett has recorded double-digit sacks in eight straight seasons, including six straight years of 12 or more sacks.
The Browns have Garrett under contract through the 2030 season and they would like to keep him until he retires. Reaching the sack record in a Browns uniform would be special.
