Commanders 7-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft: Washington selects defensive star who will impress at NFL Scouting Combine
The Commanders finally have a blue-chip player on defense after the latest 7-round 2026 NFL mock draft.
The Washington Commanders have a busy week ahead at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, and it’ll shuffle draft boards across the NFL.
The Commanders will have their eyes on the top players of the NFL Draft at the combine, with a strong consideration for the No. 7 overall pick at stake. My latest Commanders 7-round 2026 NFL mock draft has Washington taking one of the best defensive players in the draft, and one player who will be a standout at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Washington Commanders 7-Round 2026 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 7: Arvell Reese, LB/EDGE, Ohio State
The Commanders have a need at both LB and EDGE, and Arvell Reese could play both at the next level. Reese will be competing at the NFL Scouting Combine to show off his athletic traits and meet with teams around the league, and he should be a big winner this week. He’s only 20 years old as he enters the NFL Draft, and still has room to grow, yet already a polished pass rusher.
Reese is 6-4, 245 pounds, and a force at the line of scrimmage with an array of pass-rushing moves. He had eight sacks and 23 pressures on just 104 pass-rushing snaps, and his production should translate easily in the NFL. Teams ahead of Washington could want a more pure EDGE rusher like Rueben Bain Jr. or David Bailey, leaving Reese falling to the Commanders at No. 7 overall.
Round 3, Pick 71: Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State
Head coach Dan Quinn said the team wants to add a lockdown defender who can cover in big moments, so Davison Igbinosun at pick No. 71 makes a ton of sense for me. Igbinosun is a physical outside corner at 6-2, 195 pounds, and uses his length to his advantage in coverage and at the catch point.
He also has the long speed to travel with receivers deep downfield without being left behind. Igbinosun greatly improved in 2025 by dropping from 13 penalties the season before to just five. He didn’t allow a single touchdown in coverage and also had five pass breakups. Defensive coordinator Daronte Jones would be smiling to land both Reese and Igbinosun at this point.
Round 5, Pick 145: Cyrus Allen, WR, Cincinnati
The Commanders will have plenty of options to add another perimeter this offseason, but they need to add two if we’re being honest. Cyrus Allen is one of my favorite WR prospects in the NFL Draft, and he’d be a stud for the Commanders.
Allen is a crisp route-runner who played in the slot full-time in 2025 and had a breakout season as a senior. He finished 2025 with 12 touchdowns and just one drop on 69 targets. The Commanders need a legit slot threat who can stretch the field in David Blough’s offense and create plays after the catch. Allen is a steal at pick No. 145 in my opinion.
Round 6, Pick 186: Bishop Fitzgerald, Safety, USC
General manager Adam Peters continues to address their needs on defense by rebuilding the safety room with Bishop Fitzgerald being selected with the No. 186 overall pick. Fitzgerald is 5-11, 205 pounds, and a true ball hawk with five interceptions in 2025. He can come downhill in the run game for big stop, and thrives in zone coverage.
The Commanders should add a top safety in free agency if they can, and still build through the draft with Fitzgerald, who fits what Jones wants from his defensive backs with experience and great instincts.
Round 6, Pick 197: Jeremiah Wright, IOL, Auburn
The Commanders have extended veteran Andrew Wylie as a veteran depth piece, and they should keep adding to the offensive line. Left guard Chris Paul is a pending free agent, and we don’t know what Washington plans to do with his market. Jeremiah Wright is a Day Three offensive guard who has a chance to become a starter at the next level.
Wright is 6-5, 348 pounds, and plays with a ton of strength at the point of attack. He has over 2,000 snaps, plays with heavy hands, and has a stout base. He can at least be a developmental backup for Paul if he stays in Washington, or a potential starter to fill in.
Round 7, Pick 224: Vincent Anthony Jr, EDGE, Duke
Heading into free agency, the Commanders only have two EDGE players under contract, and one is Dorance Armstrong, who is coming off an ACL injury. After adding Arvell Reese and likely another name in free agency, the Commanders take Vincent Anthony Jr from Duke with the No. 224 overall pick.
Anthony Jr. has the size of 6-6, 260 pounds, but still needs to develop has pass rushing skills at the next level. He’s coming off a seven-sack season in 2025 and could become a valuable depth player. Jones loves to drop his EDGE players into coverage from time to time, and Anthony Jr. has done that on occasion with his athleticism.
