Sooners’ 2027 class just got even better, and they didn’t even add a new player to improve their overall rating
The Sooners’ 2027 class is loaded.
The Oklahoma Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class is already ranked among the nation’s top three. The class looks even better in the composite rankings than it did last week—without adding a new recruit. How did it improve?
Sooners’ 2027 commit gets a huge rating boost by Rivals
One of the Sooners players who wasn’t ranked at all is now ranked. And, man, the Sooners just gained a highly ranked commit. 2027 running back commit Keldrid Ben was not ranked for the longest time on Rivals or On3. Now, he just debuted in the Rivals’ rankings as the nation’s No. 86 overall player and No. 5 running back in the country.
The class now has a composite rating of 93.958, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders have a 94.046, with the Ohio State Buckeyes having a 94.601 in first place. This closes the gap a bit for the Sooners, and as we all know, they have been on fire as of late. There are a few more recruits they could get soon, too, some of them also being four-stars. But the most impressive part of this all is that Oklahoma found a four-star running back that almost no one knew about.
At commitment, Ben’s only other offers were McNeese and UTSA. This shows those schools’ ability to find hidden star recruits. Ben wasn’t ranked or well-known, but the Sooners liked what they saw on tape.
The Sooners already have an elite running back coming in 2026 in Jonathan Hatton Jr., who is a top 100 player in the 2026 class and the No. 6 running back. Getting Ben is just an added bonus for the 2027 class, and now he’s ranked pretty high, too. Now, we should remember that rankings mean virtually nothing. However, it’s cool to see Ben get some love.
