The Washington Commanders are looking to get back to their winning ways in 2026 after a disappointing 5-12 season.

They have plenty of work to do this offseason, but things should be trending back in the right direction with the coaching changes and a healthy Jayden Daniels. The Commanders have a tough schedule ahead next season, which includes another international game overseas.

The location for the international game has been revealed, and there are three opponents to consider as the likely opponents.

The Commanders will be playing in London, UK, next season

The NFL has expanded its international market with even more locations for next season, and the Commanders were one of the remaining teams waiting to find out where they will play next season. The wait is finally over: the Commanders have announced they will play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, UK.

This is the first time the Commanders will be playing in London since 10 years ago when they played the Cincinnati Bengals, which ended in a 27-27 overtime draw. The Commanders played in Madrid, Spain, last season, and likely will be playing at least one international game per season with the NFL’s expansion efforts.

Who will the Commanders be playing, though? It hasn’t been announced, but there’s a very obvious choice that makes too much sense.

The Commanders’ top opponent options for the London game

International games are usually a cross-conference matchup instead of NFC vs NFC games, which leaves only a handful of options for the Commanders. The Commanders are the hosting team for the London matchup, and they play three AFC teams at home in 2026: the Indianapolis Colts, the Houston Texans, and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Those three are the likeliest options, but the most obvious choice is against the Bengals. Jayden Daniels vs Joe Burrow is the best marketing matchup for an international game, with both being top NFL Draft picks from LSU and past Heisman winners.

The Texans and Colts have their own question marks at quarterback and would be the surprising pick for London. The Commanders’ return to London could be against their last opponents in London 10 years earlier. Expect this to be the new norm for the Commanders with a franchise quarterback, a strong market, and hopefully a winning season again in 2026.
