Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell undoubtedly boosted his draft stock at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Brazzell, 6-foot-4/198 pounds, ran a 4.37 in the 40-yard dash and a 1.52 in the 10-yard split.

The former Vol didn’t take part in all of the on-field drills at the combine, but he did enough to impress longtime NFL draft analyst Todd McShay.

“Chris Brazzell didn’t do a ton of stuff,” said McShay. “But the Tennessee wide receiver, who I just love the way he operates — I love how he gets in and out of his breaks. You saw that Georgia game [how] he single handedly took over. People in the league are afraid of Tennessee wide receivers, so everyone in the media will tell you. I don’t know if that’s exactly true, but I do think there’s some things there with the wide splits and some of the route concepts that they do, and then the track record of some guys who have gone early from Tennessee, that makes it a little concerning.

“But I see in him 6-foot-4/198 pounds, a long but lean frame. He didn’t do the vertical, the broad, and any of those other things. But what he did do, he absolutely nailed with a 4.37 40 yard dash. I want you to think about the difference in speed when we talk about a Malachi Fields at 4.61, or even a Carnell Tate at 4.54. And we talk about those numbers in the 10 yard split that are in the 1.6 range — [Brazzell] had a 10 yard split of 1.52, which is elite for his length.”

ESPN’s Mel Kiper says scouts will start to take notice of Chris Brazzell

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper said Monday that he expects more late-Round 1 draft buzz for Brazzell following his strong performance at the combine.

Brazzell was viewed by most analysts as a likely day two pick before the combine.

“In our preview of the workouts last Thursday, I predicted that Brazzell would ‘run something in the ballpark of 4.47 in the 40-yard dash and push himself into the first-round conversation,’” wrote Kiper. “Well, he ran a 4.37. At his 6-foot-4 size, that’s really something. I’ve been a fan of Brazzell throughout the process, and I had him in my first Round 1 mock draft in January. Scouts will start to take notice; it’s hard to find receivers with that body type who can run and move as he does. He popped in 2025 — his second season at Tennessee after transferring from Tulane — with 1,017 yards and nine scores. Brazzell averaged 16.4 yards per catch and had just two drops last season. He’s strong and makes plays in 50-50 situations. I expect a lot more late-Round 1 buzz for him now.”

The Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills are two teams with picks near the end of the first round that could use a wide receiver.

Landing with either of those franchises, which are both legitimate Super Bowl contenders, would be a dream scenario for Brazzell.
