The Las Vegas Raiders shocked everyone by trading their superstar defender, Maxx Crosby.

According to several reports, after fielding trade offers for some time, the Raiders have agreed to trade Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. They are set to receive two first-round picks: one in 2027 and one in the 2026 NFL Draft, which will be the No. 14 overall pick. This move positions the Raiders to finally embrace a serious rebuild. For years, they had not committed to it, but now they have a chance to bring in two blue-chip players for the future and free up salary for free agency.

John Spytek talked to Maxx Crosby at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine

When the Combine was in Indianapolis last week, general manager John Spytek was asked a million times about Crosby. Of course, he did his best version of coach speak, but in a general manager style. However, he mentioned several times, of course, that Crosby would be wearing silver and black in 2026.

“Maxx [Crosby] is an elite player, and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them,” Spytek told reporters at the Combine. “And it’s hard to build a great team without elite players…Maxx [Crosby] and I have a great relationship. He’s in the building every day, getting healthy right now. We talk on the phone. We text. So, I have a great relationship with Maxx… Maxx [Crosby] and I have had great conversations. I’m comfortable there. Yeah.”

Obviously, things have changed. Or, it was a smoke screen the whole time to get other teams to send more. Either way, Spytek had us all fooled. It’s important to note that he also said that no matter what, he would listen to phone calls, because he always listens.

Crosby will now be on a team that can win now with an elite quarterback. Most Raiders fans are glad it’s over because the drama and rumors are draining, but they will be sad to see such a Raider legend go. Crosby embodied what it meant to be a Raider more than any player in the last eight years or so. Now, he will take some of that to Baltimore, where he will wear purple.
