Update: Evans agreed to a three-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Full details of the deal have yet to be released.

Mike Evans is clearly one of the biggest focal points of free agency and for good reason – very rarely do future Hall of Famers become available when they can still play at a high level.

He’s officially testing free agency now that the two-day negotiating period has opened up. Evans loves the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise, but he has certain desires at this point in his clear and it’s obvious he believes, to an extent, they are desires the Bucs can’t fulfill.

When looking at the situation as a whole, the biggest hurdle for the Bucs’ chances of keeping Evans is money. Jason Licht doesn’t have a ton of cap room to work with and he doesn’t have a lot of viable options to create more cap room.

Therefore, it’s highly unlikely the Bucs can win any kind of bidding war for Evans unless they’re willing to put certain modifications like void years and whatnot, which isn’t a common practice, but it’d make sense if they did that for Evans, who is a franchise legend.

Regardless, all options may be exhausted after the latest update surrounding Evans and his market.

Teams have reportedly offered Evans $27 million per year

Per FOX Sports’ Greg Auman, multiple teams have offered Evans a deal worth $27 million per year. He didn’t specify which teams, but it makes sense, as Evans is still a true No. 1 wideout that runs good routes, is a downfield and red zone threat, a willing blocker, and a great teammate and locker room presence. He’s the full package and that results in getting paid as such.

The biggest question that matters is which teams have offered the deal. It’s been said Evans wants to play for a contender and there are a few options out there like the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers that can offer Evans what he wants monetary-wise.

That’s the last shoe to drop. If it is indeed a top contender offering that kind of money, then you better believe Evans will be playing for another team in 2026.
